Full of atmosphere and wonderful sound reproduction on this HMV acoustic Gramophone with No.5 soundbox. I wonder who the Vicar was and does anyone have any information on the church ??. The Duophone Un-Breakable Record.1926. Posted by: 85scampi
Video duration: 222 seconds "Chinese Moon". Jack Payne & His Hotel Cecil Dance Band. November 1926. Not a good copy at all, but a lovely looking label all the same. I'm not sure what these records were made out of but it could be a hard rubberised material and cardboard?, whatever it is,it certainly has perished a great deal over the last 80 years and is far too fragile to play on my Gramophone and Radiogram. 'Fairy On The Clock'. Harry Hudson's Melody Men. 1930. Posted by: 85scampi
Video duration: 176 seconds "Fairy On The Clock" Harry Hudson's Melody Men. Vocal Refrain by John Thorne. Recorded London, c. January 2nd 1930. Great fun, with the mechanics and ticking and hooting of the clock. Far too tame and jolly for today's staid popular culture. The old Edison Bell Radio record is VERY worn and scratched but it makes a fairly acceptable upload i feel?. Related: 1930., 78rpm, bell, edison, harry, hudson, radio, record |

Troublesome Trumpet: Dinah: Let Him Live, Nat Gonella. Posted by: 85scampi
Video duration: 197 seconds A Medley by Nat Gonella & His Georgians. This is 'Hot' and shows Gonellas' mastery of his art of Trumpet playing. On BBC 1 in 1989, Jimmy Perry's wonderful TV series 'Turns' which rescued clips of Bands and Artistes from oblivion showed a clip of Gonella playing 'Troublesome Trumpet' .I still have this clip, wonderful viewing too!. The film was from 1935 so possibly the record is too. Related: 78rpm, british, player, trumpet |
